A hot dog venture dubbed Frank ‘n’ Steins launched March 11 in downtown Springfield’s Brewery District Flats. The 1,824-square-foot restaurant at 535 W. Walnut St., Ste. 101, is part of a 29,000-square-foot development that includes loft apartments, retail and office space. Frank ‘n’ Steins owner John Chace said the name and concept came from his wife Becca’s drawing of a hot dog with bolts she called Frankie. Chace, the former owner of J.C. O’Malley’s Irish Pub, developed the menu of gourmet hot dogs and brats. Movies served as inspiration, with such items as Gulp Fiction, The Big Grubowski and Brattyshack sold for $6-$10. The eatery, which employs five, is on a lease with 5999 LLC for undisclosed terms. Startup costs were around $150,000, Chace said. He said the opening was delayed four months in order to get inspections completed by the city.

BOB Community Financial
The first Bank of Bolivar branch in Marshfield, dubbed BOB Community Financial, opened Oct. 22, 2018, at 1301 W. Jefferson St. Owned by Bolivar Bancshares Inc., the bank is in a 1,306-square-foot temporary modular unit leased from Tiedemann & Associates Inc. for undisclosed terms, said Marketing Director Greg Ankrom. Terms also were undisclosed for the land leased from William “Chip” McGeehan Jr. Ankrom said startup costs were approximately $250,000, with the bank intending to open in a permanent structure in two to five years. No location has been determined at this time. The seven-person staffed branch, managed by Chan Crooker, offers full-service banking and financial services. As of June 30, 2018, Bank of Bolivar’s assets were over $292 million, deposits were $249.6 million and loans were nearly $228.5 million.

Architectural Components Group Inc.
Lancaster, Pennsylvania-based Armstrong World Industries Inc. (NYSE: AWI) on March 5 finalized its acquisition of Marshfield’s Architectural Components Group Inc. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. ACGI, founded in 2001 by Gary Thompson, designs and manufactures custom wood ceilings and walls, with annual revenues around $35 million. Thompson left the company as part of the transaction, but all other management and employees stayed on, said AWI spokeswoman Jennifer Johnson. She said ACGI’s building at 521 George St. would remain in operation, primarily for office space. Manufacturing has been consolidated to the 900 George St. facility, Johnson added. AWI, which manufactures commercial and residential ceiling, wall and suspension systems, in 2018 reported net sales of $975.3 million, up 9% from 2017.
