Evoke Health and Wellness
A family nurse practitioner since 2012, Samantha Neville has teamed up with her wife, Kate Neville, a registered nurse, to open medical clinic Evoke Health and Wellness LLC at 1675 E. Seminole St., Ste. L1. Samantha Neville said startup costs were $20,000, which included remodeling work for the 1,120-square-foot space in the Spring Valley Business Center. She said the two-employee clinic approaches health care from a holistic view, offering an individualized root-cause medicine approach. Some of its services include stress management, weight loss and hormone balance with laboratory testing included. A men’s health membership, which covers health issues such as hair loss, fatigue, erectile dysfunction and weight gain, is $75 per month. A women’s hormone and weight management monthly membership is $100. Neville said IV infusions also will be offered soon at the clinic, which she started after working the past seven years at Command Family Medicine PC, a Springfield-based primary care practice.

The Phoenix Diner Bar and Grille
In his former restaurant location of Missouri Mike’s BBQ & More, owner Mike Hickman quickly returned to the restaurant scene with the May 19 opening of The Phoenix Diner Bar and Grille at 2833 W. Chestnut Expressway. Hickman’s decision to launch The Phoenix – a name he said has some symbolism as something rising from the ashes – comes after he announced on Facebook the April 27 closing of Missouri Mike’s, a restaurant that debuted in 2020. Hickman said upon closing, he intended to sell the business and subsequently laid off his staff. He began interviewing potential buyers and cleaning up the Missouri Mike’s space. However, a change of heart led him to the new eatery concept. While declining to disclose startup costs or lease terms with Wehr Properties, Hickman said he was able to hire back all 10 of the staff members he had when Missouri Mike’s closed. Steaks, pasta, prime rib and sandwiches are among menu options at The Phoenix, which also has a 36-item salad bar. Prices range $8-$35.

Enterprise Self Storage
Enterprise Self Storage LLC began operations May 13 at 1610 S. Enterprise Ave. The self-storage business owned by SRC Holdings Corp. is located on the rear portion of the company’s East Sunshine Street campus. The venture is part of a roughly $100 million investment initiative SRC announced in 2021. Enterprise Self Storage has 300 non-climate-controlled units of varying sizes with 24/7 video surveillance, coded gate entry and perimeter fencing. Some units can accommodate vehicles or boats. Dennis Sheppard, SRC Holdings’ general counsel, declined to disclose startup costs but said Kim Bell is property manager at the roughly 55,000-square-foot facility. He said the opening is the first phase of what officials expect will be a two-phase project. No timeline has been established for the second phase, he said, adding SRC is conducting a cost analysis to determine market needs, such as recreational vehicle storage and climate-controlled units. Monthly leases range $50-$225, depending on unit size.
