The Springfield store of Old Time Pottery is being replaced by Gabe's, a retail chain that purchased the former company last year.
The 1535 E. Battlefield Road store's Facebook page announced this week that Gabe's is coming soon.
"We're making way for something big. This location is temporarily closed but will reopen soon," the post reads, with an image of Gabe's attached.
Springfield Business Journal this morning observed temporary Gabe's signage that's been installed at the store, with Old Time Pottery's branding gone.
A Gabe's news release indicates the store would open in early March.
Gabe's, which purchased Old Time Pottery in April 2023, is an off-price retailer that sells apparel and home goods, among other products. The Gabe's website lists more than 167 locations under its brand and that of Old Town Pottery.
Old Time Pottery opened at the site near Battlefield Mall in September 2022, according to past reporting. The store replaced Hobby Lobby and Mardel, which moved earlier that year to 3075 S. Glenstone Ave.
Should we be talking about politics in the workplace? Whatever one’s opinion on the practice, a February study by Gallup Inc. says 54% of on-site U.S. employees are doing it anyway.
