Carl Rosenkranz, executive director of Ozarks Area Community Action Corp. for nearly five decades, is slated to retire.

Rosenkranz, 77, is retiring from the Springfield nonprofit in December, according to a news release.

“It has been a privilege to be a part of the OACAC family all these years and to contribute to a high-quality organization," Rosenkranz said in the release. "As I have said many times, our success would not have been possible without the combined efforts of many people: employees, board and policy council members, other volunteers, donors, community partners and related organizations."

Rosenkranz has been executive director for 48 of his 51 years with OACAC.

Lindsey Dumas-Bell, the nonprofit's resource development manager, said the OACAC board today is starting the process of finding Rosenkranz's successor via online job postings. Applications will be accepted through Aug. 26, with a goal of having a new director in place in November. Rosenkranz plans to be part of the orientation process when a new director starts, according to the release.

OACAC works to alleviate poverty in Greene and nine other counties through services including community centers, family planning, a foster grandparent program, Head Start and low-income housing assistance, according to the release.

The nonprofit has an operating budget of $33.1 million and 456 employees, said Dumas-Bell.
