Jimmy Ledbetter, a member of Nixa City Council since April 2017, is stepping down as he and his family relocate out of the area.
Ledbetter is scheduled to resign after council’s July 22 meeting. He’s relocating to Oviedo, Florida, according to a news release.
Ledbetter works as a business intelligence operations manager for Jack Henry & Associates Inc. (Nasdaq: JKHY), a company he’s been with since 2007, according to his LinkedIn profile. Nixa spokesman Drew Douglas said Ledbetter plans to continue working for Jack Henry when he moves to Florida.
“This has been a very difficult decision for us,” Ledbetter said in the release. “My family and I love this area. We are very proud of everything that we have been a part of.”
District 1 Nixa residents interested in filling Ledbetter’s council seat must submit a letter of recommendation to City Clerk Cindy Robbins by Aug. 9. Mayor Brian Steele then will review the letters and recommend a candidate to council. A council vote is scheduled for Aug. 12, according to the release, which noted the winning candidate would fill the remainder of Ledbetter’s term that ends in April 2020.
