BKD LLP promoted Kayla Bell, Jessica Carr, Nick Hughes, Nicole Troutman and Whitney Wendler to managing positions. Bell and Wendler provide tax services, while Hughes and Troutman handle audit services and financial consulting to community health centers. Carr specializes in tax services in manufacturing, distribution, construction and real estate.

Gary Wood, partner at Compere Robinette CPAs, attended by invitation the American Institute of CPAs’ Executive Roundtable in New York City. He was invited as the voice for some 39,000 small firms across the United States.

Betsy Dyer, tax coordinator at Abacus CPAs LLC, earned the enrolled agent professional designation after passing three exams. With the firm since 2010, she works in the transportation division.

Education
Evangel University promoted Lisa Tyson to the new position of dean of the College of Adult and Graduate Studies. She leads all nonseminary adult programs, including the accelerated degree completion programs, master’s and doctoral degree programs, and online certificate programs.

Government
Gov. Mike Parson made several board and county office appointments: Wayne Blades as Stone County Northern District commissioner, Matt Daugherty as Stone County assessor, Janice Martin as Lawrence County public administrator, Mike Robertson as Christian County Eastern District commissioner, John Russell as Greene County Eastern District commissioner and Bob Whetsten as Dallas County coroner. Blades is a farmer and pastor of Hilltop Church in Crane. Daugherty previously served as Stone County’s deputy assessor. Martin is the social service director at Mount Vernon Place Care Center. Robertson is a retired sergeant of the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Russell is the president of Pillar Insurance LLC and a management consultant for L&W Industries LLC. Whetsten is the administrative coordinator of the ambulatory laboratory at CoxHealth.

Health Care
Dr. Ryan Denney
, gastroenterologist with Citizens Memorial Hospital Gastroenterology Clinic in Bolivar, earned board certification by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine. Already board certified in internal medicine since 2015, he completed three years of training in gastroenterology and a seven-hour written exam. He has been with CMH since August 2018.

CoxHealth added Dr. Ruth Ann Nevils for palliative care, Dr. Joshua McElderry in trauma surgery and Drs. Rachel Hankins and Heather Bridges to deliver family medicine. Nevils practices primarily at Cox South, McElderry at the Ferrell-Duncan Clinic, Hankins at CoxHealth Center Chesterfield and Bridges at CoxHealth Urgent Care.

Marketing
Missouri Trust & Investment Co. hired Tylar Grant as marketing and administrative assistant. She most recently worked as an intern for Columbia Marketing Group Inc.

Nonprofit
The Network’s Leadership Council added six new members for three-year terms: Celeste Cramer of CoxHealth, Tyler Drenon of Self Interactive, Bryan Fisher of Neale & Newman LLP, Dee King of Guaranty Bank, Daniel Ogunyemi of Court Appointed Special Advocates of Southwest Missouri and Ben Shantz of Spencer Fane LLP. Paden Wilcox of Computer Recycling Center LLC is the 2019 council chairman, and Ryan Sivill of BKD is vice chairman.
