Abacus CPAs LLC promoted Teri Wingo to director. She has worked for the company since 2008 and specializes in transportation.

Duckett Ladd LLP named Marcus Crigler as partner. He joined the firm during its formation in 2015 and was named the chief real estate investment specialist and chief business development officer in 2017.

Architecture
Two projects by Dake Wells Architecture Inc. were recognized as 2019 Best of Design Awards by The Architect’s Newspaper. The Sunshine and National Retail Center was named as an honorable mention in the commercial and mixed-use category, and the Springfield Underground Command Station was an editor’s pick in the small spaces category.

Education
Drury University was named one of the 30 best liberal arts colleges in the Midwest by Great Value Colleges. The publication’s editors rated the colleges on general education curriculum, national and international rankings, student retention rates, notable faculty and alumni, historical significance and return on investment.

Government
Thane Kifer, of Bolivar, was appointed to the State Banking Board and Savings and Loan Board by Gov. Mike Parson. Kifer is the president, CEO and director of Farmers State Bank in Bolivar, and he’s a member of the Missouri Bar and the Missouri Bankers Association’s Regulatory Affairs Committee.

Health Care
Three CoxHealth employees received The Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nurses: Ashlyn Hilt in the women and newborn unit; Jamie Bateman in the Cox North Emergency Department; and Karyn Hembree in the cardiovascular intensive care unit.

Hospitality
Chateau on the Lake Resort, Spa & Convention Center named Jon Davidson as general manager. The 30-year hospitality veteran most recently served as vice president and chief operating officer at Shangri-La Golf Club, Resort & Marina on Monkey Island in Oklahoma.

Nonprofit
The American Cancer Society in southwest Missouri named Sherri Zerkel as senior manager of community development. She has 20 years’ experience in the nonprofit sector, having served as development director of the American Heart Association and March of Dimes, and as senior director for Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Court Appointed Special Advocates of Southwest Missouri installed four officers for 2020: President Eric Gerke of Springfield First Community Bank; Vice President Tony Hopkins of Springfield Builders Inc.; Secretary Jennifer Hargis of Evans & Dixon LLC; and Treasurer Jeffrey Schmitt of Hagan, Tucker, Schmitt & Gintz LLC.

The Kitchen Inc. named its 2020 board of trustees executive officers: President Rex Hansen, former president and general manager of SummitMedia LLC; Vice President Jason Clough, attorney at The Clough Law Firm LLC; Treasurer Katie Hoegeman, an assistant professor at Missouri State University; Secretary Kathy Pulley, a professor at MSU; and past President Michele Kauffman, office manager at Harter House.

The Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce named Jen Johnson as its first chief of staff. She serves as senior adviser to the chamber president, handles day-to-day responsibilities of high-priority projects, leads the strategic planning and internal communications processes, coordinates communication efforts with partners, and advocates for critical issues. Johnson has worked on the chamber’s economic development staff since 2004 and most recently served as manager of investor engagement.
