S&H Farm Supply in Rogersville was named a Best in Class dealership in Farm Equipment magazine’s 2006 Dealership of the Year contest. The company was the only repeat winner of the award; S&H’s Lockwood location was named Best in Class in 2005.

Community

Lutheran Family and Children’s Services of Missouri added Amanda Jones as family resource coordinator in its southwest regional office. Jones is responsible for recruitment, assessment, training and support of southwest Missouri foster families.

The Missouri Women’s Council honored former state Senator and current Greene County Commissioner Roseann Bentley with its Award of Distinction. The award was presented during the Sept. 26 Governor’s Conference on Economic Development in St. Louis. During her Senate tenure, Bentley served on the appropriations and education committees. She is also a former chair of the Missouri Children’s Services Commission.

Education

Missouri State University named Ronald Fairbairn associate provost for public affairs and MSU’s extended campus. He supports and advises Provost Belinda McCarthy in matters relating to public affairs and academic outreach. Fairbairn previously served for 18 years as the dean of the College of Continuing Education and the Extended University. He earned his Master of Divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and his doctorate from Duke University.

College of the Ozarks sophomore Joshua Matlack was featured in the Sept. 20 issue of The Wall Street Journal. Matlack was honored as a recipient of the paper’s 2006 Student Achievement Award, given to sophomore business majors with limited business course experience who show promise within the major. Honorees are nominated by school faculty members.

Southwest Baptist University senior Cassandra Waterman was selected as a winner in the 2006 American Graphic Design Awards for her poster entry for the school’s spring 2006 production of “Little Shop of Horrors.” Waterman, a commercial art major with a concentration in graphic design, was chosen by a nationwide panel of judges and is eligible to have her poster reproduced in Graphic Design USA’s Awards Annual.

SBU announced the winners of its annual Newcomer Awards. Greg Stewart, manager of credit and collections for the university and a 1993 SBU alumna, was the staff recipient. Robert Klostermeyer, chairman of the school’s department of history and political science and an assistant political science professor, was the faculty recipient.

Health Care

The CoxHealth Foundation added John Martin to its board of directors. Martin is president of E.A. Martin Co. and its subsidiaries, Martin Investment Services LLC and Martin Property Management LLC. He also currently serves on the board of his family’s fund at the Community Foundation of the Ozarks.

The CoxHealth Foundation also elected the following board members to one-year terms as board officers: Ken Meyer, chairman; Larry Lipscomb, vice chairman; Don Wessel, secretary; and Gil Trout, treasurer.

Insurance

Beimdiek Insurance Agency hired Rebecca Weddle as manager of the professional liability division and promoted Kimberly Fullerton to chief financial officer.

Weddle is responsible for sales and service of employee benefits and professional liability. Fullerton, who has been with Beimdiek since 1998, is responsible for agency accounting, automation and administration functions and serves on the Agency Executive Committee.

Office Equipment

Corporate Business Systems was named one of the country’s elite dealers by OfficeDealer Magazine. The award is presented annually by the magazine to the top office equipment, office products and office furniture dealers nationwide. There were 120 dealers selected.

Training

Ivy League Corporate Services hired Jamie Fagan as director of marketing and corporate accounts. Fagan received a bachelor’s degree in public relations from State University of New York – Fredonia. She has experience in developing public relations and marketing programs for firms in upstate New York, as well as experience in corporate event planning.

Trucking

The members of the Missouri Motor Carriers Association elected officers for 2006–07 at their annual convention Sept. 14–16 in Branson. Local officers are: Mike Walker of Transland Inc., chairman; John Hancock of Prime Inc., third vice chairman; and Jim O’Neal of O&S Trucking Inc., alternate American Trucking Association vice president.
