The Strafford R-VI School District Board of Education named a new superintendent.
Mark Hedger is slated start July 1 for the 2021-22 academic year, said Marcy Easterly, the district’s communications director. He was hired with an initial two-year contract, after which the board will revisit the matter, she said.
Hedger comes to Strafford from his previous five-year role as superintendent of the Laclede County R-1 School District in Conway.
He succeeds the retiring Brett Soden, who was hired starting with the 2018-19 academic year.
Prior to joining the Laclede County district, Hedger had past experience as a teacher and coach at Knob Noster School District, elementary principal at Ozark West Elementary, and head men's basketball coach and athletic director at Baptist Bible College in Springfield, according to a news release.
In Strafford, Hedger’s salary will be $120,000, said Easterly.
The Strafford R-VI School District has roughly 1,100 students, according to its website.
