A shuttered Pita Pit in southwest Springfield is getting new life.

Patrick Nett, owner of Thai Express, said in a public Facebook post on June 26 that his restaurant would relocate to the building at 2113 W. Republic Road. It currently operates at 948 S. Glenstone Ave.

"I've been under a lot of stress and working around the clock to make this happen, and I want to spend a moment to appreciate all of my hard-working employees for taking great care of our restaurant," Nett said in a post to the Welcome to Springfield, MO Facebook group.

Nett, who did not disclose an opening date on Republic Road, could not be reached for comment by deadline.

The Pita Pit restaurant opened on Republic Road in 2014, according to past reporting. It's unclear when the restaurant closed, though its Facebook page stopped posting in summer 2019.

Greene County assessor and recorder filings show the 2,600-square-foot building on 1.2 acres changed hands last month.

J and L Investments LLC on May 21 purchased the building from Griswald Enterprises LLC, according to public records. A deed of trust for the property between J and L Investments and OakStar Bank lists a note amount of $1.4 million.

The building had been listed by R.B. Murray Co. President Ross Murray said via email more information would be available in the coming weeks.
