New gym opens in Strafford

Posted online

A 24-hour fitness center featuring free weights and cardio has opened for business in Strafford.

Charley Steele said she and boyfriend Josh Huskey launched Iron Knights Strafford on June 29 at 307 E. Old Route 66, Ste. A.

"Josh's dream was to open a gym where people could come and build a community," Steele said via email. "He's worked toward this over the last five years, and we're excited to create an environment where people can come and work on their fitness journeys."

Iron Knights Strafford shares a name with Iron Knights Fitness Center in Buffalo. Steele said Huskey's cousin, Chad Garner, and Garner’s wife, Megan Garner, who own Iron Knights Fitness Center, "were gracious to allow us to use the name Iron Knights."

On its Facebook page, the Strafford gym is advertising 24-hour access, cardio equipment, free weights and weight stack machines, personal training and tanning slated to be offered soon. Single memberships are listed at $25 per month, with an option to add a member for $15 monthly and $5 day passes. Supplements also are offered for sale, and the gym can work with clients on their nutrition.

Steele said the couple worked with Moreno Group Commercial Realty President Caleb Moreno to find the 4,000-square-foot space they're leasing for undisclosed terms. Declining to disclose startup costs, Steele said she and Huskey are the sole employees.
