New CEO named for Springfield psych hospital

A new CEO is in place at a Springfield psychiatric hospital operated by Alpharetta, Georgia-based Perimeter Healthcare.

Lynn Lemke started last month at Perimeter Behavioral Hospital of Springfield, according to a news release. He comes to Springfield from Centreville, Illinois, where he was executive director of behavioral health at Touchette Regional Hospital.

It’s not Lemke’s first trip to the Queen City, as he previously served a nine-month stint as executive director of behavioral health at Mercy Hospital Springfield in 2018, according to his LinkedIn profile.

“He knows this community and is fully on board with the company’s vision of building an integrated behavioral health care system, and there is no doubt his steady guidance will be invaluable to the Springfield hospital,” Perimeter Healthcare President and CEO Rod Laughlin said in the release.

In Springfield, Lemke leads an acute behavioral hospital with 32 beds serving all ages. Physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, nurse practitioners and therapists are among those on staff, according to the hospital’s website.

Perimeter Healthcare Vice President of Business Development Erica Fox said the Springfield hospital in 2019 admitted 544 patients, conducted 1,001 assessments and had 1,966 referrals. In October, the hospital changed its demographics to children ages 6-17 from adults and geriatrics, she said.

Todd Lutes, who worked six months as CEO of the hospital, joined Anthem Inc. in July 2019, according to his LinkedIn profile. It’s unclear if a chief executive led the Springfield hospital in the interim.

Lutes was named the 2828 N. National Ave. facility’s leader in late 2018, when Perimeter purchased the property and a psychiatric hospital license from Ozarks Community Hospital. The license that had been obtained by OCH was quickly sold, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting. Lutes previously was an employee of OCH.

Perimeter Healthcare’s website lists 13 facilities, including a behavioral center in Waynesville and five locations in Arkansas.
