Multipli to build new HQ

Multipli Credit Union is in the early stages of developing a new headquarters and branch.

At 1850 S. Blackman Road, near the intersection with East Sunshine Street, Multipli is close to finalizing the purchase of vacant land for undisclosed terms, said Judy Hadsall, the credit union’s president and CEO. The land, which is currently owned by KTAB Family LLC, has an appraised value of $80,000, according to Greene County assessor records.

Hadsall said Multipli will relocate its corporate office from 818 N. Benton Ave., where the company’s center city branch also operates. The Benton Avenue branch near the campus of Drury University will remain open, and the company’s fourth location will open alongside the new headquarters on Blackman Road.

“We’ve added on to this building three times. We’re at capacity here,” Hadsall said of the company’s current corporate office.

Alisa Lawler, vice president of marketing and business development for Multipli, added the intersection is a growing development area with the likes of Tim O’Reilly’s hospitality and law firms and Getaway Golf operating nearby.

“There’s a whole lot of people that reside over that way,” she said.

Multipli plans to occupy 30,000 square feet in the 40,000-square-foot planned building, with the other 10,000 available for lease. The 10,000 square feet also may be used for future expansion space, Hadsall said.

The Multipli officials said general contractor bids are expected to go out soon for the project designed by H Design Group LLC. An August 2020 completion date is targeted.

Information provided by H Design Group indicates the two-story building would have a rooftop patio and an underground parking garage.

Multipli ranked No. 4 on Springfield Business Journal’s annual list of the area’s largest credit unions, published in April. The company reported more than 11,440 members, $133.7 million in 2018 assets, $94 million in 2018 deposits and $59.8 million in 2018 loans. The top company on the list, BluCurrent Credit Union, recently opened its fourth branch, located on South Glenstone Avenue.
