Bass Pro Shops founder Johnny Morris has continued to climb on Forbes' annual list of the world's wealthiest people.
Morris, 75, this year ranked No. 246, up 178 spots, according to the list released this week. The CEO of the Springfield-based outdoor retailer has an estimated net worth of $8.3 billion, according to Forbes.
Morris last year ranked No. 424, which was up from No. 705 in 2021, according to past reporting. At this time last year, Forbes estimated Morris' net worth at $6 billion.
Morris' estimated net worth is the highest it's been since Forbes started tracking it, according to his list profile.
The Bass Pro founder is tied on the latest Forbes list with Stefano Pessina of Walgreens Boots Alliance and Francine von Finck and family, who inherited funds from a German business venture.
No. 1 on the list this year is Bernard Arnault and family of LVMH, the parent company of Louis Vuitton, Hennessy and other luxury brands, with an estimated net worth of $211 billion. Tesla's Elon Musk is No. 2, at $180 billion, followed by No. 3 Jeff Bezos, of Amazon, at $114 billion.
