A shiny new CoxHealth Care Mobile is on the roads bringing basic health care to more children at their schools.
The pediatric clinic on wheels serves patients 2 months old to 18 years. It’s in partnership with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and corporate sponsors, including Great Southern Bank.
“One of our goals is to ensure that children receive care where they are, so being able to offer a variety of services, or connect them to more advanced care that they may need, is something we take very seriously and inspires our work,” says Tim Siebert, executive director of CMN Hospitals at CoxHealth, in a news release announcing the new vehicle. “We are very excited about this new unit and the benefits it will bring to our patients.”
For CoxHealth’s part, the health system provides board-certified nurse practitioners to perform immunizations, treatment of common illnesses, hearing and vision screenings, and sports physicals. Local physicians serve as medical directors for the nurse caregivers.
Officials say they’ve recorded more than 1,700 encounters with patients since the second vehicle rolled out in February. An average year previously recorded roughly 2,000 encounters with the Care Mobile.
On the school side, staff nurses schedule appointments for the Care Mobile to arrive on campus and deliver care to students. Officials say individual pricing and financial assistance are coordinated through the school nurses.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
