Meridian Title Co. changes ownership

Springfield’s Meridian Title Co. gained new ownership at the end of last month.

Jeremy and Emily Burcham bought the business July 31 for undisclosed terms from Randy Doennig and Stephen Adams.

“I am a longtime mortgage veteran and executive,” he said, noting he most recently worked as president of The Compliance Group Inc., a company based in the San Diego area, although he and his wife have continued to maintain residence in Nixa. “We started looking into business for ourselves."

The Burchams, who previously lived in the area while attending Drury University, discovered Meridian Title was for sale and quickly moved on the acquisition.

“It’s a little rare to find things like Meridian come up for sale, that’s right in your area of expertise right at the time you’re looking to do something like that,” Jeremy Burcham said.

Operating the company via Burcham's Meridian Title LLC, Burcham said he kept Meridian Title’s name and employees. Counting him and his wife, Meridian employs seven, he said.

Doennig is available to help ease the transition for up to a year, said Burcham, who also has the option to contract with him.

At Meridian, Burcham said “our 90-day outlook is status quo for the most part” as the transition occurs. He plans to grow the main services of the company, which he said are title search and closing functions. He declined to disclose revenue, but said sales were up last year and are trending better in 2018.

Meridian continues to operate at 4121 S. Fremont Ave., Ste. 152, where the office was recently remodeled, Burcham said.

Meridian ranked ninth on Springfield Business Journal’s list this year of the area’s largest title companies, published May 14. The company reported nine employees serving southwest Missouri.
