Manufacturer investing $8M to expand in Marshfield

Lancaster, Pennsylvania-based Armstrong World Industries Inc. (NYSE: AWI) is expanding its Marshfield plant to the tune of $8 million.

Expansion plans call for 50,000 additional square feet of manufacturing, warehouse and office space, as well as the creation of 130 jobs on top of 180 currently working full time at the facility, according to a news release. Armstrong entered Marshfield in 2019 through the purchase of Architectural Components Group Inc., and the local plant retained its name.

With more than $1 billion in annual revenue, Armstrong designs and manufactures commercial and residential ceiling, wall and suspension systems. The ACGI plant specializes in custom wood ceilings and walls.

"Wood ceilings lend a warmth and refinement to any space, and we are seeing a demand for that kind of aesthetic grow ... which is why we are hiring now and why we are adding even more capacity to our operation here in Marshfield," Armstrong ACGI Plant Manager David San Paolo said in the release.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held yesterday, and the expansion is slated for completion in first quarter 2021.

Armstrong is utilizing incentives through the Missouri Works program, which allows for the retention of the state withholding tax on the new jobs, according to the state Department of Economic Development's website.

Armstrong’s announcement follows fellow Marshfield business Tyler Pipe Co.’s unveiling last month to expand to the tune of $4.9 million.
