Mall fills vacant Charming Charlie space

Posted online

Battlefield Mall signed a tenant to fill the space left vacant four months ago by women’s jewelry and fashion retailer Charming Charlie.

Versona, a boutique that also operates in women’s fashion and jewelry, is scheduled to open in February at the mall. Located between Ruby Tuesday and White House Black Market, the space has exterior and interior entryways, according to a news release.

“Versona is a perfect fit for our trend-forward customer who will take risks with her fashion, but not her budget,” Battlefield Mall General Manager Michael Martin said in the release.

Charming Charlie closed in August after the retailer filed for bankruptcy over the summer with plans to close all of its roughly 100 stories. It opened in June 2010 in 7,000 square feet at the mall, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.

Versona, which also operates a fashion boutique at Branson Landing, carries apparel, jewelry and accessories, according to the release. It operates in Missouri and 18 other states, according to its website.

The mall’s 2018 occupancy rate was 92.1%, SBJ previously reported. Other new tenants at the mall include Pizza Ranch, Glow Golf and Indulge restaurant.
