Mall fills remainder of Charlotte Russe space

Posted online

Battlefield Mall signed a new tenant to fill the remainder of the former Charlotte Russe space.

Aerie, a lingerie brand from American Eagle Outfitters Inc. (NYSE: AEO), is slated to open in 3,900 square feet this summer, according to a news release.

“The opening of this popular retailer supports our commitment to provide shoppers with quality merchandise and an evolving selection of beloved brands people have come to expect,” Battlefield Mall General Manager Michael Martin said in the release.

Aerie joins women's clothing retailer Dry Goods in taking space that Charlotte Russe vacated last year. The two new stores are located between Justice and Build-A-Bear in the mall's main corridor, with Dry Goods scheduled to open in the spring, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.

It’s been a busy first quarter for the mall.

Officials announced in January that international clothing retailer H&M plans to occupy 20,000 square feet this fall across from Old Navy. Days later in February, Sears confirmed it would exit the mall in mid-April after serving as an anchor tenant for nearly four decades. The Sears store, according to Greene County assessor records, spans 177,549 square feet.
