Posted online

Jay Osborne, the longtime head coach of the Nixa Public Schools boys basketball team, is retiring from the district.

A district employee for three decades, Osborne is slated to exit at the end of the 2021-22 basketball season, according to a news release. He enters the season with a career record of 647-242, including 12 district championship wins.

“Jay’s dedication to both basketball and Nixa is something that will be a part of the school’s legacy and the foundation for a program that will be successful for years in the future," said Brandon Clark, activities and athletics director for the Nixa school district, in the release. "However, Jay’s impact on his players and their lives is something that will leave a ripple effect for generations.”

Osborne, who twice was named Missouri Coach of the Year, was inducted into the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2015. The Nixa boys basketball program was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in 2019.

Brock Blansit, assistant coach for the Nixa boys basketball team, was named head coach starting with the 2022-23 school year, according to the release. His assistant coach successor is slated to be announced later this school year.
