Longtime exec out at Anderson Engineering

Posted online

Longtime Anderson Engineering Inc. CEO Neil Brady quietly resigned this summer and company officials this morning introduced a new executive leadership structure.

The Springfield-based company’s board appointed Jerrod Hogan as CEO, Jason Eckhart as board chairman and Paul Engel as vice chairman. The three previously were co-presidents and board members for the firm, Hogan said this morning.

Hogan, Eckhart and Engel now lead the operations of the engineering firm after the July exit of former CEO Neil Brady, who worked for the company for nearly 24 years. Brady most recently spoke to Springfield Business Journal for the July 29 article, “New HQs on the Rise,” in which he discussed the firm’s $2.5 million headquarters underway at 3213 S. West Bypass. During the interview, he did not indicate a plan to exit the firm. Brady was not named in today’s news release announcing the executive changes.

Reached this morning, Brady said his resignation from Anderson Engineering was not forced.

“I’m looking for a change — not necessarily out of engineering,” Brady said, noting he was not a primary owner in the company, as it operates with an employee stock ownership plan. “The company’s in good shape. They’re set up to do well for the foreseeable future.”

Brady, according to his LinkedIn profile, also held the president title until early this year. Named president in 2008, Brady succeeded his father, Steven Brady, as Anderson Engineering’s chairman and CEO in 2015, according to past SBJ reporting.

Hogan confirmed Brady’s resignation. The new leadership structure became effective on Sept. 26, according to the release.

“We have a seven-member board of directors that’s very active in management and leadership of the company,” Hogan said. “I am ridiculously proud to be a part of this team and to have a leadership role in this company.”

Hogan, who primarily works out of Anderson Engineering’s Joplin office, said Springfield will remain as the company’s headquarters. The 15,000-square-foot project on West Bypass in Springfield is slated for completion in December, SBJ previously reported.

“I live in Joplin and have for 20 years. I spend a lot of time in the Springfield office,” said Hogan, an 18-year employee at Anderson Engineering. “We have 10 offices and I get the opportunity to work out of all of them.”

Anderson Engineering started as Tri-Lakes Concrete Co. in 1954, before taking on its current name in 1977. The ESOP bought the Anderson family shares in 1998, and two years later, the employee plan purchased the remaining shares of the company from Steven Brady, Bruce Rhodes and Joyce Rhodes, according to SBJ archives.
