The Springfield regional managing partner overseeing BKD LLP’s national advisory services practice is scheduled to retire next year.
Mike Burlew, who’s worked with Springfield-based BKD for more than three decades, set a May 31, 2020, retirement date. He’ll be succeeded on June 1, 2020, by Jerry Henderson, who works out of the firm’s Louisville, Kentucky, office, according to a news release.
“I have been very fortunate to work closely with Burlew over the last several years and I have learned much from him about the discipline required to build high-growth, yet profitable practices,” said Henderson, who’s currently managing partner of BKD’s transaction advisory services and performance advisory services, in the release.
When former BKD CEO Neal Spencer announced he was exiting the position in 2012, Springfield Business Journal speculated Burlew was among the front-runners for the job, along with Ted Dickman. The latter leader ultimately was named to the top role. At the time, Burlew led BKD’s virtual region, with subsidiaries including BKD Wealth Advisors and BKD Insurance.
Travis Bradshaw, BKD regional marketing manager, said the national advisory services practice comprises 13 business lines with some 400 employees across the country. BKD Capital Advisors and BKD Wealth Advisors are among the business units.
