A GoFundMe crowdfunding campaign was launched yesterday after popular C-Street establishment Lindberg's Tavern temporarily closed.
Lindberg's yesterday announced via Facebook the closure after one of its employees tested positive for COVID-19. The online fundraiser, dubbed "Lindberg's Relief Fund," was started shortly after. It raised $2,945 of its $10,000 goal as of 12:10 p.m.
The 318 W. Commercial St. bar and restaurant is credited as Springfield's oldest tavern. A reopening date has not been released on its Facebook page, though officials said a relaunch would be scheduled after its employees have been tested and cleared for COVID-19 and the establishment has been sanitized.
"We have appreciated those who have supported us during this difficult time," the post reads.
The establishment started in the 19th century, according to its website.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
