Lilac Lane coming to Main Street in Nixa

Posted online

The boutique scene is multiplying on Nixa’s South Main Street, with next week’s planned opening of Lilac Lane and Co.

Owner Lisa Cash said Lilac Lane, which will focus on garden, outdoors and kitchen items, is set to launch Feb. 18.

“It’s a great little street and I lucked into a great spot,” she said of her shop’s home at 109A S. Main St.

Lilac Lane is the third boutique to open in a short stretch of the street. It’s upstairs from Sugar Cube Lane, a baby and children’s clothing store, opened in November on the ground floor of the same building, and next door is clothing store Luk Boutique, 111 S. Main St.

Cash, who returned to Missouri from Colorado two years ago, said she’s been welcomed into the neighborhood since she began working on renovations for the 1,000-square-foot space last year.

She and her daughter, Calli Harris, will initially be the lone employees at the store. She’s on a two-year lease for an undisclosed rate with Kennedy Rose Properties LLC.

This isn’t Cash’s first foray into business ownership. She previously operated Slumgullion Gift Gallery in Lake City, Colorado, and Rose Petal, a clothing and accessories store in Gunnison, Colorado.

A native of Farmington, Cash said she moved back to the Show-Me State to be closer to family members.

“When I moved here, I didn’t know what I wanted to do,” she said.

Cash estimates around $50,000 in startup costs, noting the shop will sell plant containers, birdhouses and loose-leaf tea, as well as environmentally friendly products, including wooden spoons and reusable straws. Prices for many of the items will fall in the $5-$20 range, she said.

“We’re trying to be as sustainable as possible,” she said.
