Latin American restaurant closes after 3 years

Posted online

Latin American restaurant Antojos Tacos y Mas LLC is closing this weekend after nearly three years in business.

Saturday is the last day open for the 1342 W. Sunshine St. restaurant, according to a Facebook post.

"Our biggest blessing was our little one and having him be a part of the Antojos adventure. We will forever cherish the memories of our gracious customers sharing their table with our little boy, welcoming him as if he was a part of the family," the post reads. "But as he grows bigger, so do his messes. It is proving harder and harder to keep him safe.

"And so, we have decided to close Antojos for the very deserving reason of family."

Antojos Tacos y Mas is organized by Hugo Aparicio with the Missouri secretary of state's office. Aparicio could not be reached immediately for comment by deadline.

Located in a strip center at the Sunshine Street and Fort Avenue intersection, Antojos Tacos y Mas sells "a variety of authentic Latino food," such as pupusas, tamales, burritos and tacos, according to its Facebook page. Antojos translates to cravings, according to the page.

The post announcing the closure pointed to struggles that have hit the restaurant, including a vehicle that struck the building last year.

"Through COVID, a crash into our building and countless other hardships that many businesses face, we survived because of you. We wouldn’t have been successful without you," the post reads.

The Facebook post also indicated a return for Antojos Tacos y Mas might be on the horizon once the owners’ son goes to school.
