Two construction industry firms that are active in the Springfield market were among officials who recently broke ground on a 150,000-square-foot arena at the Missouri State Fairgrounds in Sedalia.
Architecture firm Kinetic Design and Development LLC and general contractor Nabholz Construction Corp. were awarded the contract for the arena, which is slated for completion by the fair's 2026 season, according to a news release.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held Aug. 15, with Gov. Mike Parson among those in attendance. The facility is named Governor Michael L. Parson Arena in recognition of Parson and his work as governor related to the fair.
“We couldn’t be prouder to represent the great state of Missouri alongside Nabholz with this project,” said Abbye Bobbett, chief operations officer for Kinetic Design and Development, in the release. “We’re proud to be a Missouri-based small business, and getting to represent residents of the Show Me State with an arena that will serve generations to come is a significant honor."
The Governor Michael L. Parson Arena is designed to offer events such as concerts, bull riding and trade shows.
“We love the oversight and innovation our relationship with Kinetic provides,” said Brandon Wall, executive vice president of operations at Nabholz, in the release. “In the construction business we’re always looking for ways to make our projects more efficient, both with time and resources, and the team at Kinetic always bring a perspective that helps deliver on that goal.”
