Kennedy Contractors merges with regional firm

Posted online
Kennedy Contractors Inc. in Springfield has merged with Columbia-based Emery Sapp & Sons Inc. to broaden its service area in the Midwest.

The two construction firms will be known as Kennedy ESS Contractors, according to a company news release. The Springfield office, 633 North Prince Lane, offers site construction and development services, excavation, and utility and road construction.

Kennedy’s recent work includes site construction for Springfield-Branson National Airport, site and underground utilities construction for the Missouri National Guard facility, and site construction for Branson Intermediate School.

Emery Sapp & Sons is owned by its more than 500 employees and serves the Midwest region. The company was the prime contractor for the $25.2 million reconstruction of the U.S. Highway 65/Interstate 44 interchange, and it currently is working on two Missouri Department of Transportation projects that will add two lanes to Highway 65 for 25 miles north of Interstate 44.

“We’ve been interested in expanding our presence to the Springfield market for some time,” said Emery Sapp & Sons Chief Financial Officer Keith Bennett in the release. “This is a merger of strengths, as we blend Kennedy’s strong reputation for quality workmanship with Emery Sapp & Sons’ more diversified capabilities.”[[In-content Ad]]
