Moline, Illinois-based Deere & Co. (NYSE: DE) is planning a multimillion-dollar expansion in the Springfield area.
The company's John Deere Reman business intends to invest $13.5 million to expand its plant in Strafford, according to a news release. The project would expand the 601 MO-125 facility, known as the John Deere Reman Core Center, by 120,000 square feet to bring its footprint to 400,000 square feet.
“This is a significant milestone for us and shows John Deere’s commitment to the reman business and to the local community,” said Kevin Schrag, manager of John Deere Reman, in the release. "Our dedicated employees, with their focus on keeping our customers running and commitment to the remanufacturing business, have made this investment possible."
Company officials are targeting a mid-2025 groundbreaking and 2026 completion for the expansion.
The John Deere Reman Core Center opened in 2012 and represented a roughly $14 million investment, according to Springfield Business Journal archives. Q and Co. LLC led construction of the project.
