Interim Greenwood leader tapped to lead school permanently

Ronald Snodgrass will no longer have interim on his title come next month.

He's scheduled to become director of Greenwood Laboratory School on June 1, according to a news release. He's led the Missouri State University-affiliated private K-12 school in the interim since last summer.

“Greenwood’s reputation of academic excellence will be of the utmost importance to maintain in the future," Snodgrass said in the release. "I look forward to working with the outstanding faculty currently in place to move the school to new heights and provide the best learning opportunities for our students.”

Snodgrass, who has more than 30 years of education experience, started at Greenwood in 2015 as assistant director. He previously was a teacher and administrator at Springfield Public Schools for 29 years.

“Ron brings a wealth of school leadership experience to this role,” said Barri Tinkler, dean of the MSU College of Education, in the release. “He’s been an excellent interim director this past year, and we’re lucky to have him continuing as the director.”

As interim director, Snodgrass last year succeeded 16-year leader Janice Duncan, who exited for undisclosed reasons, according to past reporting.

Greenwood in fall 2021 ranked No. 4 on Springfield Business Journal's list of the largest elementary and secondary private schools. The school reported 397 students, 30 employees and revenue of roughly $2.5 million.
