The second Huey Magoo's restaurant from local businesspeople and franchisees James and Lisa Tillman is open for business.
The chicken tenders restaurant, at 5402 N. 23rd St. in Ozark, officially opened today after a soft launch on Monday, according to a news release.
"Our family lived in Ozark for many years and all attended Ozark schools, and we are happy to have the opportunity to add to this growing community and give back," the Tillmans said in a joint statement in the release.
The 2,760-square-foot Ozark restaurant replaces a former car wash. It opened on time with a previously projected fourth-quarter estimate, according to past reporting.
The Tillmans have signed on for up to five Huey Magoo's franchise stores in the Springfield area, according to the release. Additional locations have not been announced by the Tillmans, who also are franchisees of First Watch and investors in FD’s Grillhouse and Casa Bella, according to the release.
Their first Huey Magoo's, at 3352 E. Sunshine St. in Springfield, opened in April.
Huey Magoo's, which uses the marketing tagline "filet mignon of chicken," has a menu that includes chicken tenders, sandwiches, wraps and salads, according to its website. The Huey Magoo's website lists a franchise fee of $35,000, with royalties of 5% and marketing fees of 2%.
The Ozark restaurant is the 54th Huey Magoo’s systemwide.
