Hotel Vandivort opens $9.75M expansion

Posted online

Hotel Vandivort this morning announced the opening of its $9.75 million expansion property in downtown Springfield.

Dubbed V2, the 48-room hotel is adjacent to the original Hotel Vandivort that opened in July 2015 after a $13 million renovation of a former masonic temple by brothers Billy and John McQueary. Officials publicly laid out plans for the second building in January 2018.

Designed by The Lamar Johnson Collaborative LLC, the Phase II project was constructed by Branco Enterprises Inc. The 40,000-square-foot building has a boardroom-style event space, as well as the fifth-story Vantage Rooftop Lounge and Conservatory that’s scheduled to open on Sept. 24, according to a news release.

“We are overjoyed at how Springfield has embraced Hotel Vandivort and love being the first taste travelers experience of our beloved area,” Billy McQueary said in the release. “Our hotel serves as an ambassador, highlighting many incredible local artists and businesses, and from this we have seen great success, creating the need for more space and expanded amenities.”

V2 was constructed on a former parking lot at McDaniel Street and Robberson Avenue. It’s about 25 steps away from the original, 44,000-square-foot Hotel Vandivort with 50 rooms at 305 E. Walnut St.

Hotel Vandivort General Manager Zackary Oxley said all but one of V2’s 15 suites are booked for tonight. All 98 rooms for the entire hotel are booked on Saturday, and a few are available on Friday, he added.

Hotel Vandivort was honored this summer in Springfield Business Journal’s Economic Impact Awards. The company won its category for businesses in operation from one to five years.
