Springfield building permits show Hobby Lobby and affiliated company Mardel Christian & Education are taking on space at a south Glenstone Avenue property that once housed Kmart.
The permits point to renovations in the works at 3075 and 3085 S. Glenstone Ave. Springfield Business Journal observed work being conducted at the former Kmart.
The Springfield News-Leader reported Oklahoma City-based Hobby Lobby and Mardel are relocating from their current spaces near Battlefield Mall. Company officials could not be reached for comment by deadline, and a store employee deferred questions to corporate public relations. An official with property owner Warren Davis Properties LLC also could not be reached for comment.
The Kmart store located near the Glenstone and Battlefield intersection closed in 2017, according to SBJ archives.
The property is located adjacent to Office Depot, with Olive Garden operating out of a stand-alone building next to Glenstone.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
