Groundbreaking scheduled for $65M Iron Grain District

Magers Management Co. has scheduled a groundbreaking event for its multimillion-dollar, mixed-use Iron Grain District project in Republic.

A ceremony is scheduled 12 p.m. Oct. 6 at Highway MM and Sawyer Road, according to a news release.

"As the largest mixed-use development in the city of Republic, visitors can expect a variety of venues to explore, all of which will be located in one convenient place," officials said in the release.

Springfield Business Journal in February reported Magers Management was working on the $65 million residential and commercial development. It's slated to be constructed on 30 acres adjacent to the Garton Business Park, which houses the Amazon fulfillment center.

“It is exciting to see this continued investment in our community,” said David Cameron, city administrator of Republic, in February. “Iron Grain District represents the kind of intentional development that sets Republic apart.”

BP Builders LLC is serving as general contractor for the project designed by H Design Group LLC, and Derek Lee of Lee Engineering and Associates LLC was instrumental in the master planning, according to past reporting.

The residential portion of the project is designed with more than 200 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartment units and a pool, dog park, clubhouse and walking trails, SBJ previously reported. The plans also call for a hotel on the site. Adjacent to the apartments is a planned 24,000-square-foot shopping center, and additional lots also will be available for lease.
