Greene County wages rise 8%

While Greene County wages rose 8% in the second quarter, the average weekly figure was the lowest among the largest counties in Missouri.

That's according to the latest available U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data, which put Greene County's average weekly wage at $906 for the quarter.

Conversely, the St. Louis area had the highest wages in Missouri. The average weekly wage in the United States rose 8.6% in the second quarter to $1,188, according to a news release.

Missouri's largest counties, ranked by percent change in second quarter average weekly wages, are:
• Boone, $990, up 12.4% from the same quarter of 2019;
• Greene, $906, up 8.1%;
• St. Louis City (which also is a county), $1,243, up 7.9%;
• St. Charles, $954, up 7.7%;
• St. Louis County, $1,221, up 7.3%;
• Jackson, $1,154, up 5.3%; and
• Clay, $960, up 1.8%.

Of the 357 largest U.S. counties measured by the BLS, 352 had year-over-year average weekly wage increases in the second quarter, according to the release.
