Greene County wages rise 7% in Q4

Greene County's average weekly wages rose faster than most of the nation in the fourth quarter of 2019, according to the latest data released this morning by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

During the three-month period ended Dec. 31, the local county's average wages increased by 7% to $916 per week, according to a news release. The BLS covered the 356 largest U.S. counties in its analysis.

Greene ranked as the 12th fastest-growing county in the United States in terms of percentage wage increase in the fourth quarter. It was beat in Missouri by No. 4 Clay County, which recorded a fourth-quarter jump of 8.7% to $1,041; and No. 5 Boone County, which rose 8.5% to $969.

Comparatively, average weekly wages across the United States moved up 3.5% in the fourth quarter to $1,185, according to the release.

Greene County's wages rebounded from the third quarter of 2019, when they placed No. 342 nationwide with a 0.8% increase in average weekly wages, according to BLS data.
