Third quarter wages were up in Greene County, but the pace of growth was slower than the majority of the country, according to data released today by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Greene County's average weekly wages were up 6.8% to $896 compared with third quarter 2019, according to a news release. By percentage growth, Greene County ranked No. 202 among the 357 largest U.S. counties measured by the BLS.
Missouri's top wage growth in the third quarter was in Boone County, at 12% – the 16th largest percent change in the nation, according to the release.
Missouri's largest counties, ranked by third quarter percent increase and wage growth rank nationally, are:
• Boone: $1,006, up 12.3% from third quarter 2019, No. 16;
• Clay: $998, up 8.4%, No. 103;
• Greene: $896, up 6.8%, No. 202;
• St. Charles: $920, up 6.7%, No. 209;
• Jackson: $1,132, up 5.7%, No. 263;
• St. Louis County: $1,194, up 5.5%, No. 271; and
• St. Louis City (which also is a county): $1,211, up 3.2%, No. 336.
U.S. average weekly wages rose by 7.4% in the third quarter to $1,173, according to the release.
