Great Southern execs see increases in compensation

Executive compensation was up for all but one of the five top officers at Great Southern Bancorp Inc. (Nasdaq: GSBC) in 2022.

That's according to the company's latest proxy filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

President and CEO Joe Turner, the company's top-paid executive, earned total compensation of $1.6 million in 2022, up 1.3% from $1.58 million in 2021.

His father, board Chair William Turner, saw a 7.7% decrease in total compensation to $511,725, according to the SEC filing.

Great Southern's top executives, by 2022 total compensation, are:
• Joe Turner, $1.6 million, up 1.3%;
• Rex Copeland, senior vice president and chief financial officer, $581,942, up 7.1%;
• John Bugh, chief lending officer and vice president, $567,992, up 17.4%;
• Kevin Baker, chief credit officer and vice president, $567,992, up 10.4%; and
• William Turner, $511,724, down 7.7%.

Combined, the top officers' total compensation was $3.8 million, according to the SEC filing.

During 2022, Great Southern's profits rose 1.8% to $76 million compared with 2021, according to past reporting.

GSBC shares were trading at $49.48 as of 10:22 a.m., compared with a 52-week range of $49.04 to $64.16 per share.
