In 1987, Dwain Gold and his wife, Mary Jo, began their plumbing, heating and air conditioning business out of their home with one truck and Dwain working six to seven days per week to keep up with demand. Prior to starting his own business he had worked in the industry under other contractors.
As the business grew, Gold took on a helper, then two, then several. The company has grown steadily ever since. When Branson started to boom in 1990, business escalated, and the Golds acquired a building between Ozark and Springfield, convenient to both Springfield and Branson.
Dwain Gold spent a lot of time in Branson during the subsequent four years, working on hotels and motels, condos and apartment complexes. He worked on the renovation of the Baldknobbers Theatre and at the Shoji Tabuchi Theater.
His reputation with contractors kept the work coming in, and eventually Gold had to make the decision to shift his concentration from the field to the office.

Under construction beside the existing Republic branch of the Springfield-Greene County Library District – which remains in operation throughout the project – is a new building that will double the size of the original, according to library officials.
