Fast-casual Mexican restaurant Go Burrito has shuttered in south Springfield after more than a year in operation.
The restaurant, located at 2100 W. Republic Road, Ste. 124, in Magers Crossing, announced the closure in a Facebook post this morning.
"As of Monday, June 3, Go Burrito Springfield is closed. We thank all of you for your support along this journey," the post reads. "We are deeply saddened by this and will certainly miss seeing all of your beautiful faces filled with giant burritos."
Franchisee Lucas Forschler said via email that "Go Burrito was simply not profitable."
Forschler brought North Carolina-based Go Burrito to town in March 2023, opening in 3,200 square feet in Magers Crossing, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting. The eatery’s menu featured burritos, quesadillas, tacos, nachos and salads.
Go Burrito's website lists four locations, including the Springfield store, as well as a restaurant coming soon in Ocala, Florida.
A chance opportunity led to the opening of Nixa’s Haven Games, which this year tripled its storefront space.
