Project description: A new fire station is in the works on the south side of Strafford, near the Southwest Missouri Rail and Industrial Park, to serve the growing community. The project is funded through an $8 million general obligation bond, called Proposition Fire, that voters approved in April 2022 to build Station No. 3, renovate Station No. 2 and buy new fire apparatus, among other needs. The firehouse will feature two truck bays, five bunk rooms, a kitchen, workout room and training and community room, according to officials from general contractor Rich Kramer Construction. Strafford’s population is on the rise, according to U.S. Census Bureau figures which show it increasing from 2,020 in 2004 to 2,720 this year – almost 35% in the span of two decades.
