Description: Nordic Landing, a 41-unit apartment complex, is taking shape just west of the Grant Avenue Parkway on Catalpa Street. With rents projected to average $545 for one bedroom and $635 for two, the development is designed as an affordable housing option financed through an allocation of federal and state housing tax credits, a conventional loan and a share of the city’s Home funds through the Missouri Housing and Urban Development Commission, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting. The first floor will include a 3,400-square foot commercial space where Riley Shantz, a partner in DHTC Development LLC, said the development group envisions a child care provider for residents and the public to be managed by the Ozarks Area Community Action Corp. A manager’s office and storage lockers for tenants also will be on the first floor, and the building will have a closed gate at night, Shantz said. The building is on 2.4 acres beside a teen center to be operated by Boys & Girls Club of Springfield Inc. “We think it’s going to be a good fit,” Shantz said.
