Project description: Construction crews began work in mid-2018 for a Kum & Go convenience store and fuel station on the southeast corner of Kearney Street and Glenstone Avenue.

Company officials have said the new Kum & Go Marketplace will replace an aging store at 1605 E. Kearney St. At the new site, a portion of the original Route 66 runs through the property. While plans call for repaving and widening the roadway, Kum & Go spokeswoman Kristie Bell has told Springfield Business Journal the company is saving an original portion of the road. City building permits also note a Route 66-themed sign to commemorate the site.
