Project description: A Hy-Vee grocery store on East Sunshine Street will join one existing location in Springfield on West Battlefield Road. The project’s estimated cost is $12.7 million, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting. It will include a pharmacy, bakery, wine and spirits section, and floral department, said Sydnee Lindsey, workforce development training coordinator with project subcontractor Emery Sapp & Sons Inc. A 4,176-square-foot Hy-Vee gas station and convenience store also will be built on-site. Hy-Vee purchased 11.5 acres on East Sunshine Street near the intersection with Enterprise Avenue in 2013 and waited until its strategic planning process called for a new store in Springfield, according to past SBJ reporting. The company plans to hire 100 full-time and nearly 300 part-time employees, according to past reporting. Hy-Vee operates more than 240 stores in Missouri and seven other Midwestern states, according to its website.
