Project description: A first-of-its-kind banking facility in the Springfield market, Great Southern Bank Express Center is designed as a four-lane drive-up center utilizing interactive teller machine technology to serve customers, according to Kelly Polonus, the bank’s vice president and chief communications and marketing officer. Nearly any teller transaction that can be performed in the traditional drive-thru can be performed at an ITM, including cashing a check to the penny, she said, adding ITMs offer an ATM-like interface, but with the enhancement of a video screen that allows customers to speak to a service representative in real time. The branch is designed with a cantilevered roofline extending over the teller machines for a modern appearance. An existing Great Southern Bank branch was razed at the site in January.
