Project description: A major expansion of Missouri State University’s Jordan Valley Innovation Center is well underway with construction of the Brewer Science Innovation Annex. The annex is named for Rolla-based smart device technology manufacturer Brewer Science Inc., which made an undisclosed naming-level donation to the project. The Vecino Group development firm secured tax credits and financing for the project, and Missouri State University is contributing up to $4.6 million. According to Allen Kunkel, JVIC director and MSU vice president, the project is part of a larger expansion of IDEA Commons, MSU’s urban innovation park and a center for research and product development. The addition has a cybersecurity firm interested in renting space on the first floor, and Brewer Science will occupy the entire second floor of the expansion upon completion. The Brewer Science Innovation Annex will serve as the main entrance to a 100,000-square-foot JVIC after completion, according to the project website.
