“Every day you’ve gotta wake up and say, ‘I’ve gotta make money today,’" says, Ricky Smiley, Founder and Producer of Smiley Records, LLC. When Smiley was laid off from a job he held for 18 years, he decided to make his side gig a full time pursuit. “I had nowhere to go. I didn’t know what I was gonna do,” Smiley said. “I’ve already done all this homework. I’ve already done this building.” Smiley says it didn’t make sense to move or take another job, so he decided to go all in on his dream of running a record label and recording studio. Push yourself. Don’t let anything stop you.
