A Dunkin' restaurant franchisee with existing holdings in Springfield is developing a new drive-thru concept on South Campbell Avenue.
The 900-square-foot shop, which will not have indoor dining, is targeted for completion at the beginning of April, said franchisee Girish Patel. It's located at 2534 S. Campbell Ave. in the parking lot of the Old Town Centre, just north of Sunset Street.
"The intention for this location is to reduce the load and pressure from the existing location on Campbell Avenue," Patel said via email.
The franchisee’s Dunkin' restaurant at 4020 S. Campbell Ave. often has overflowing traffic on the side road near Alamo Drafthouse. Patel's franchise company, Bapa Network LLC, previously purchased the restaurant and franchise rights in Springfield, according to a June 2019 Springfield Business Journal article.
Patel said BP Builders LLC is serving as general contractor for the new restaurant designed by Wichita, Kansas-based Clarkitecture LLC. He said the building would have two drive-thru lanes.
Patel also is the franchisee behind a planned Dunkin’ and Baskin-Robbins combo concept at 1614 S. Glenstone Ave. The site previously was home to Krave Seafood & Oyster Bar, a restaurant and venue that closed in 2019 after a fire. The building since has been demolished.
Patel said via email that construction of the Glenstone Avenue restaurant is expected to start early next month, pending approval of a city permit.
While a disruption in international trade has the capacity to hurt local farmers and ranchers, beef producers are having a good go of things at the moment.
