Gov. Mike Parson yesterday appointed former state Rep. Allen Icet to the recently vacated Greene County collector role.
Icet succeeds Leah Betts and will serve the remainder of her term that ends in March 2023, according to a news release
“I plan to do my best for the citizens, and I want to continue the high level of customer service established by Ms. Betts and the hardworking staff in that office," Icet said in the release.
Icet is a local resident, said county spokesperson Donna Barton. The county collector's salary is $83,845, she said.
The Republican served eight years starting in 2002 as representative for District 84, covering part of western St. Louis County. Icet was chairperson of the House Budget Committee 2006-2010, and he ran for state auditor in 2010.
Icet's LinkedIn profile lists work experience at crisis and emergency management company Witt O’Brien’s and oil and gas corporation BP (NYSE: BP).
Icet joins the county amid a recent delay in tax statements that ultimately prompted Betts to resign, according to past reporting. Betts claimed she was hindered in doing her job by technical errors in the assessor’s office she says she brought to the attention of county leadership last year.
Betts exited the county collector position Feb. 28 after first being elected to the role in 2014.
