A prominent, vacant property along South Glenstone Avenue that once housed CVS Pharmacy and Katz City Drug Store is getting new life.
Businessperson Mike Klemm of Market Street Liquidation & Pallet Sales announced on the company's Facebook page earlier this month that the roughly 74,000-square-foot building, 1735 S. Glenstone Ave., would be used for the company's headquarters, as well as a retail space for pallets and bins. Additionally, a vintage discount store with a cafe is planned for a portion of the building, the company announced on Facebook.
"It's one of the most landmark buildings in the area," Klemm said in the July 8 Facebook video. "It's probably going to take us 30, 60, 90 days to get this up and running."
Market Street Liquidation & Pallet Sales plans to use the front half of the store, facing Glenstone Avenue, for the discount store under a separate name, according to the company's Facebook page. A Market Street store will be in the back. Market Street, which lists its current address at 2146 E. Pythian St., announced its existing property would remain in operation.
CVS closed its pharmacy at the building in 2019, according to past reporting.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
