Springfield electrical contracting company Falcon Electric LLC is planning to break ground this month on a new $1.9 million home, just outside Partnership Industrial Center.
Ben Bills, owner of Falcon Electric, said the company’s future headquarters at 4111 E. Kearney St., which will be roughly 20,000 square feet, is expected to be complete by the end of July. The company is currently leasing 12,000 square feet on East Division Street, Bills said, adding the lease is up in August.
The move is in response to the company’s recent growth. Bills purchased the company, formerly Sterling Electric Inc., in 2018. Previously a team of four employees, Falcon Electric now employs 40 people and recorded $4.1 million in revenue in 2019, Bills said.
“We’re projecting a bigger year this year than last year,” said Bills, despite industry disruptions because of the coronavirus. He’s expecting 2020 revenue to hit roughly $7 million.
The planned building mainly will be used for warehousing, with 3,200 square feet of offices that he said also will act as a showroom for clients. Falcon Electric specializes in commercial and industrial electrical contracting.
“It’s going to be a place where I can bring clients to look at the different types of lights we offer,” Bills said. “Sometimes it’s hard for clients to visualize what we can do for them.”
The project’s general contractor is Williams Construction Co., and the architect is Verona-based R. E. Werner Architect LLC.
